Lokum App
The Lokum team had existing users and a business need to get mobile apps launched ASAP. We love a product with live users and worked with their team to get this out on both the App Store and Play Store immediately. We leveraged the Flutter hybrid framework to use one codebase to create both the iOS and Android app. We then used their existing backend to handle the majority of the logic, to ensure the mobile apps were as simple as possible. And as a short term solution we even leveraged webviews within the app so we could use existing web app to handle some of the mobile functionality.
Every business case is different for each client and we made sure to tailor our development to fit the Lokum teams needs. Sometimes that means moving fast, using existing resources, and getting something in users hands ASAP.
Overview
We built the mobile apps for Lokum using Flutter and Dart for a cross platform hybrid approach. This greatly reduced the cost of the app and the time spent on development, allowing us to launch a MVP to both marketplaces within 2 months of development.
For the networking layer we utilized Ferry, a GraphQL solution for Flutter and Dart that surprised us with it’s efficiency at maintaining data models and network requests for the front end. For the data management of the app, we took use of the provider widget library which allowed us to make scalable and easy to maintain screens that can display 100s of job listings seamlessly.
A simple webview was also introduced that acted as an in-app gateway to the Lokum website, allowing users to sign up, login, or view the terms of service and privacy policy, which greatly accelerated the time to launch.
